Wet Look vs. Natural Look Paver Sealer: Which Should You Pick?

Natural look (matte)

A natural-look sealer protects the paver without changing how it looks much. Colors stay close to dry-stone tones, there's no shine, and the finish is the most forgiving about dust, footprints, and light wear.

It's the safest choice if you love the current color of your pavers and simply want them protected, and it's popular on large driveways where an even gloss is harder to maintain visually.

Wet look (high gloss)

A wet-look sealer deepens and enriches color dramatically — the pavers look like they do right after rain. It's the finish people mean when they say a driveway looks brand new.

It shows off color variation beautifully, especially on travertine-style and multi-tone brick pavers. It also shows more: dust, pollen, and water spots are more visible between cleanings, and a gloss coat wants a properly prepped, fully dry surface or it can haze.

Satin, the middle ground

Satin gives you a noticeable color boost with a soft sheen rather than a mirror. For a lot of homeowners it's the sweet spot: the pavers clearly look restored, but the finish doesn't demand as much upkeep as full gloss.

Pool decks deserve extra thought

Around a pool, traction matters more than shine. Wet feet on a glossy surface can be slick, so for pool decks we generally recommend a natural or satin finish, and we can add a slip-resistant additive to the sealer where a customer still wants more gloss.

The same caution applies to steep driveways and any walkway that gets sprinkler overspray every morning.
