Quick habits that stop stains and growth before they set.
- Rinse the surface with a hose, especially under trees and near sprinklers
- Blow off leaves and mulch — they hold moisture and stain pavers
- Clean up oil or fuel drips the day they happen, not next month
- Check sprinkler heads for overspray causing rust streaks
Every season
A short walk-around after Florida storm season pays for itself.
- Walk the surface and press on pavers — note anything that rocks
- Look for low spots holding water after rain
- Check that joint sand is still full to just under the paver edge
- Pull any weeds sprouting in joints and note where they keep returning
- Trim vegetation back so air and sun reach the pavers
Every one to two years
A professional cleaning between sealings keeps mold and algae from building a foothold, and lets us catch repairs while they are small. It also extends how long your existing sealer looks good.
Every two to three years
Re-seal. In South Florida sun and salt air, that is the realistic interval for maintaining color and protection. We warranty our sealing work for two years.
At each re-seal we re-sand and re-stabilize the joints, which is the part that actually keeps the pavers locked together.
What to avoid
A few common habits cause more damage than the weather does.
- Do not use acid-based cleaners or bleach at full strength
- Do not let a rented pressure washer near the joints at full pressure
- Do not use de-icing or harsh degreasing chemicals on sealed surfaces
- Do not seal over a dirty or damp surface
